Week 8
Thursday 24 October → Wednesday 30
This week we will cover selected issues from Chapters 5, 6, 7 & 8 of Business Ethics Workshop. Don’t worry, it’s not as much as it sounds! No new theories will be introduced; in these chapters, we are only applying the theories we have learned to distinct areas of economic life.
Chapters 5, 6 & 7 concern employees’ ethics. That is, some of the dilemmas employees face on the job. Chapter 8 concerns managers’ ethics, and issues that arise from that perspective.
The midterm will be the next scheduled class week (which runs from the 3rd to the 9th). It is open book; you are free to use your textbook, notes and the class videos.
It will be available to you to take from Sunday to Monday (3 November and 4 November) which gives you some weekend time and some week time for the test which should take about 75 - 90 minutes to complete, though you are free to use as much time as you wish. There will be no other work assigned next week, so you will have time for review and catch-up, especially from this week’s load which is, I concede, a bit heavy.
When convenient, you may want to look at the video discussing what the midterm exam will look like. The video is here. There is also a video about exam gradinghere.
On Sunday morning 3 November, the exam will be available on Classes, on the Announcements page. You will have to get your responses back to me (by email) by 5 pm on Monday, the 4th. If you have any questions (and after watching the video mentioned just above), please post them in the “Ask the Professor” forum, or email me directly.
Our video course work this week will be Modules 5, 6, 7 & 8. They can be found below.
There is no discussion board work this week.
