Extra credit is addressed here. Please note that the most extra credit possible is less than 1/3 of a grade. Extra credit will only be counted in cases where students' final grades are right at the cutoff between 2 grades (then it may help to push up).

The Pace University library has set up a useful guide for independent research designed for students who are interested in business ethics, and or/those seeking material for extra credit projects. The link is here.

Week 2

Thursday 12 September → Wednesday 18

Welcome to Week 2 after a good start!

This week grades WILL be assigned for online activities, BUT I will grade generously. The week after I will demand a bit more substance. (Please recall that there is no credit for late DB work because the exercises are about class participation.)

A short video about the online discussion board grading process is posted below, along with a brief review of your discussion board work. If you have any questions, please post them on the Ask the Prof Blackboard forum, or email me. Generally, I prefer the forum because if you are uncertain about something, others in the class probably are too.

Our video course work this week will be Chapter 2, Modules 1 & 2. They can be found below.

Our discussion board work is listed below.

Discussion

Case: Surveillance Camera Man

Please watch the short documentary below.

Consider what ethical conflicts and dilemmas arise here. Who is involved, who needs to be taken into consideration? Which facts are important?

Next, go to the online Discussion Board on Classes and consider this case from the perspective of the perennial duties as described in the textbook chapter two. In terms of ethical perennial duties, is Surveillance Camera Man admirable, reprehensible, something else? Do you support what he is doing? Oppose it? Why?

Also, respond to at least two of your classmates.

Dates for completion
Reading, videos and initial discussion board posting finished by noon Monday.
Response to classmates on discussion board finished by noon Wednesday.
